Whisper NFC Beam 1.0
Whisper NFC Beam is an application for nearfield communications (NFC) enabled Android devices. The applicationimplements Whisper Communications' patented technology (a.k.a.Whisper Cone of Silence) to secure peer-to-peer file transfers whentwo Android devices communicate via NFC/Android Beam. The file tobe transmitted is whisper-encoded (based on a password set by thesending user) before it is transmitted via Android Beam. Since thepassword can be changed by the sending user for each transmission,it makes the data transfer secure againsteavesdropping/sniffing.INSTRUCTIONS:(1) The sending user launches the application, selects the file tobe sent, and sets the password for the NFC transmission.(2) Once the password is set, the sending user presses the "send"button and the "Tap with another device to push the data" messageappears. The sending device is then tapped to the receiving deviceand Android Beam (over Bluetooth) is initiated.(3) Once the beaming is complete, the receiving user is notifiedvia the notification bar.(4) The receiving user opens the received file from thenotification bar with the Whisper NFC Beam app (or locates andopens the file from the "beam" directory).(5) The receiving user enters the correct password. The file isthen whisper-decoded and stored with the file name"ReceivedFile.Whisper" in a folder named "WhisperNFC" on the SDcard/USB data storage.(6) The receiving user can then display the contents and/or changethe name of the received file with one of the many file managerapplications available on Google Play.NOTES:(1) This application can transfer any file type and is not limitedby the standard Android Beam file types. Before transmission, thesending device whisper-encodes the file and stores it as"whisper_NFC_beam.c" on the SD card/USB storage under the"WhisperNFC" folder.(2) Both NFC and Android Beam have to be turned on in the settingsfor both Android devices.(3) Both the sending and receiving Android device need to have theWhisper NFC Beam app installed.

The file to betransmitted is whisper-encoded (based on a password set by thesending user) before it is transmitted through the NFC interface.Since the password can be changed by the sending user for eachtransmission, it makes the data transfer secure againsteavesdropping/sniffing.INSTRUCTIONS:(1) The sending user launches the application, selects the file tobe sent, and sets a password for the NFC transmission.(2) Once the password is set, the sending user presses the "send"button and the "Tap with another device to push the data" messageappears. The file isthen whisper-decoded and stored with the file name"ReceivedFile.Whisper" in a folder named "WhisperNFC" on the SDcard/USB data storage.(4) The receiving user can then display the contents and/or changethe name of the received file with one of the many file managerapplications available on Google Play.NOTES:(1) This application works best when transferring smaller files (10KB maximum recommended) since it uses the NFC interface for thedata transfer. For larger file transfers, install our new WhisperNFC Beam app athttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whispercomm.beam(2) This application can transfer any file type.(3) Both NFC and Android Beam have to be turned on in the settingsfor both Android devices.(4) Both the sending and receiving Android device need to have theWhisper NFC app installed.
